Tips & Tricks
Let’s Get Started
It's ideal to cook your pizza on a warmed, hefty surface if you want it to have more of an artisan, pizzeria feel. A heavy-duty baking sheet, a pizza stone, an upside-down cast iron pan, etc. are some alternatives for this. Make use of what you have! But before baking your pizza, be sure to warm your surface in a hot oven for at least 30 minutes.
Make it HOT HOT HOT
Commercial Pizza ovens get VERY hot. Turn your oven up to 500 degrees F to recreate your favorite pizzeria taste.
Picture Perfect Crust
Looking for the show stopping beautiful golden crust? Olive oil! All you need is olive oil with or without minced garlic, simply brush the crust with the mixture before adding your topping.
Some like it …. Crispy
If you enjoy a very crispy pizza par bake the crust! All you need to do it add your dough to the preheated oven for 5-7 mins or until golden brown. This will help the crust crisp up before adding sauce and toppings.
Get Saucey
Don’t feel the need to stick with the standard red pizza sauce, although it’s delicious. Get creative and have fun with your sauces. Here are some we recommend you give a try:
Pesto
Alfredo Sauce
BBQ Sauce
Buffalo Sauce
Ranch Dressing
Salsa
Beaten eggs (Breakfast pizza!)
Hummus
Hot Sauce
Toppings Time!
Here’s another way to make your pizza custom to you! You can go wrong with a classic cheese pizza but if you are feeling adventurous, they sky’s the limit. If you are adding proteins make sure to under cook since it will continue to cook in your over.
Avoid going over board on the toppings! If you add too many toppings, or sauce, your pizza crust will not be able to cook. This will leave you with a soggy pizza soup.
Say Cheese
Just like your toppings, this is another chance to get creative! Mozzarella is a great go to but if you want to mix things up here are some other options:
Cheddar Cheese
American Cheese
Feta Cheese
Blue Cheese
Provolone Cheese
Parmesan Cheese
Goat Milk Gouda
Swiss Cheese
Gruyere
Ricotta
Brie
Cottage Cheese
Let it Slide
There are a couple of different ways to transfer your pizza into your oven. Cornmeal helps to make the pizza slide off the peel. Parchment paper is a mess free option but note the crust will not get as crispy.
